New ambassador role for Barrie StephenLeave a Comment
Barrie was previously an ambassador and trustee at the RSPCA Woodside Animal Centre and was looking for a new charity where he could put his skills and experience to good use. Barrie was so taken with the great work undertaken by the centre and its dedicated team of volunteers that he immediately signed up as a Platinum Member to sponsor one of the kennels at the 4 acre site in Huncote.
“This is a fantastic fit for me” said Barrie. “One of my favourite childhood days out was my mum taking me to Huncote to see the dogs. Leicester Animal Aid inspired a lifelong love of animals in me and I look forward to being able to give something back to them.”
Barrie’s previous fundraising activities has raised nearly £30k for local charities and he hopes to be able to match that success as part of the new relationship. The owner of an award-winning group of hair salons in Leicester and Leicestershire, Barrie actively involves his team to also get involved in charitable works to give back to their community.
“I support my team putting on charity events in the salons and other venues. They all enjoy getting involved in fundraising activities and doing something a bit different” Barrie smiles. “Last Christmas every single member of the team even brought a donation of pet food in for rescue cats and dogs.
“I think it is important that we all try to make a difference to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. As animals do not have their own voice, I try to shout out on their behalf.”
