First Class catwalk hair
De Montfort University Fashion and Contour degree students enjoyed a great finish to their courses this week, showcasing their final collections of clothes and lingerie on the catwalk with fabulous hairstyles provided for all the models by Neil Smith of Barrie Stephen Hair. The final year students, who all exhibited six outfits, had their dramatic, sophisticated and sexy designs enhanced by super sleek long hair, elegant up-dos and sumptuous big curls.
The end-of-year presentations, held at the DMU Campus Centre on Mill Lane, attracted over 250 people for the evening showings, including fashion industry professionals who were on the look out for new emerging talent.
Earlier on in the week, Barrie Stephen stylists were also on hand to offer their expertise to Fashion BA student Georgette Leone Kamara, who needed help with some unusual head piece designs. Her collection, inspired by the history of mannequins and tailor’s dummies, impressed designer Karen Millen who chose Georgette’s work to be showcased on the DMU catwalk at Graduate Fashion Week in London. Georgette was thrilled with the result:
“The hair pieces were designed to complement my body outfits and were a combination of a fitted hat and synthetic hair, but I wanted some expert help in getting just the right cut and style. I was really impressed with what Barrie Stephen Hair created and it added that extra finishing touch to my collection.”
Barrie Stephen Hair has been the stylist of choice for the DMU fashion shows for two years now. The annual degree show events are renowned for their professionalism and are always the most celebrated dates on the university calendar. For this ‘Focus on the Future’ fashion and contour degree show, guests enjoyed an extra special treat when they got to take home a Barrie Stephen goodie bag with product samples and the latest edition of The Cut magazine.
