Young hairdresser to work with TIGI and Bed Head

Paul Forrest, a senior stylist at Barrie Stephen Hair has beaten thousands of other young hairdressers from across the country to win one of only 12 coveted places on the TIGI Inspirational Youth Team – an exclusive programme to nurture and develop British hair styling stars of the future.

The Barrie Stephen stylist will work with a team of top professionals learning innovative cutting, colouring and presentation techniques, combining this with fashion knowledge at the same time. At the end of the programme, Paul will showcase his creative work to an audience of over 1000 hairdressers at the ‘Inspirational Youth Show’ at Salon Live in London.

Another of Paul’s tasks will be to organise a 2-day photo shoot – creating his own interpretation of the new season’s hot looks. He will work with a team of top makeup artists and fashion stylists to photograph his final hair styles at the Bed Head Studio in London.

It’s a great opportunity for the young designer to develop his skills, as salon owner Barrie Stephen comments:

“Paul’s selection for this prestigious course is evidence of his creativity and success as a hairdresser. It’s a fantastic chance for him to develop his cutting, colouring and styling techniques which will be great for clients who’ll benefit from his new expertise. I’m sure it will be an invaluable experience for him.”

Emma Brown, King Street salon manager, also took part in the prestigious training two years ago:

“I gained a tremendous amount of inspiration and confidence from the Youth Team programme. It’s run over a six-month period, so the advanced techniques you learn one day can then be immediately put to use in the salon the next day. I’m sure Paul will gain a lot from the experience in terms of both technical knowledge and personal development.”

Paul will be attending the next Tigi hair training session on June 26th when he will be learning how to style hair on stage and live on camera.
